Is couple counselling right for you?

Most couples reach out when one or more of these feels familiar.

  • The same argument keeps repeating with no resolution
  • Long silences, or one of you shuts down completely
  • Trust has been shaken and you are unsure how to rebuild it
  • In-law or joint family expectations are creating friction
  • Emotional or physical intimacy has faded
  • Things changed after a baby, a move, or a job shift
  • Money conversations turn into blame
  • You care about each other but feel like roommates

You do not need a crisis to start. Many couples come simply because they want to stop drifting apart.

What you get from couple therapy

The focus is not on deciding who is right or wrong. The focus is on understanding, respect, and next steps.

A neutral space to talk

Both of you get equal space. The session is guided so it doesn't turn into another fight at home.

Clarity about what's really going wrong

Instead of arguing about small things, you understand the deeper patterns, hurts, and expectations on both sides.

Healthier communication

Learn how to share what you feel without attacking or shutting down, so your partner can actually hear you.

Support for Indian family realities

Sessions consider in-laws, children, money stress, work pressure, and cultural expectations that are common in Indian homes.

Small, realistic changes

You leave with simple, doable steps instead of heavy "homework" that you can't follow in real life.

A plan for the way forward

Together with Ashwini, you decide what you want from this relationship and how to move towards it at a comfortable pace.

How does couple therapy work?

Therapy is a collaborative process. The exact structure is shaped around the couple’s concerns, goals and circumstances.

Understand what brings you in

You have space to explain what has been difficult and what each partner hopes will change.

Notice recurring patterns

You can explore how conversations, reactions and unresolved concerns may keep repeating.

Agree on next steps

You and the therapist can identify realistic goals and review what feels useful as sessions continue.

When should couples consider counselling?

You do not have to wait until a relationship reaches a crisis. It may be worth seeking support when the same disagreements keep returning, important conversations feel impossible, trust has been affected, or both partners are unsure how to reconnect. Read our guide on when to consider marriage counselling.

An important safety note: When a relationship involves violence, coercion, intimidation or fear of a partner, joint therapy may not be safe or appropriate. Individual safety and specialist support should come first. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

Common questions before you start

The things most couples want to know before that first message.

Do both partners need to attend?
Ideally yes, because couple therapy works best when both perspectives are in the room. That said, many people begin alone when their partner is hesitant, and that is a completely valid starting point. Individual sessions can still create meaningful change in the relationship.
How many sessions will we need?
There is no fixed number of sessions or guaranteed timeline. The pace depends on your concerns, goals and circumstances. Ashwini can discuss a possible way forward after understanding your situation.
What does a session cost?
Current session fees are shared over WhatsApp before you book, so there are no surprises. Message us and you will get a clear answer straight away.
Are online sessions as effective as in-person?
Online sessions may be a suitable option for some couples, including partners with travel or scheduling constraints. Suitability depends on your circumstances, privacy and the nature of the concerns being discussed. Ask Pure Harmony about the available format.
Is everything we say confidential?
Sessions are handled with care and in line with professional ethical responsibilities. Confidentiality has limits in certain circumstances, including serious safety concerns or legal requirements. Your therapist should explain these limits before you begin.
Which languages are sessions offered in?
English, Tamil, Kannada, and Tulu. Many couples find it easier to express difficult feelings in their mother tongue, and you are welcome to switch between languages during a session.
What actually happens in the first session?
Mostly listening. Ashwini will ask about what brought you in, how things have been between you, and what each of you hopes for. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready to, and no homework on day one.
Will the therapist take sides?
No. The role is to hold a neutral, balanced space where both partners feel heard. The aim is not to decide who is right, but to understand the pattern that keeps both of you stuck.
